Oliver Newman

Mercenary Driver

I started Simracing in 2020 and first tried rFactor 2 in October 2020 as the lockdown was in full swing. I’ve always wanted to race and simracing is most accessible and best value way to do it. Endurance racing has always been a passion for me, my dad and I have been to most European rounds of the WEC. I’m very new to simracing, but I look forward to getting faster and challenging for wins. I am looking to move towards being a full time RM driver when I finish out the season for JoyTeam Racing in the GT3e season. I’m a drummer and I’ve been playing drums for nearly 17 years. I’ve played gigs and festivals across the UK and once opened a festival where the headline act was Scouting for Girls.

Preferred race number; 62

Proudest Simracing achievement; probably scoring points for JoyTeam Racing in the simracing.club GT3e championship against some of the best professionals in only my second serious race

Funniest Simracing moment; None that I can think as of yet I’m too new!

Simulators raced; Rfactor 2

My rig setup; Logitech G920 wheel and pedals on an old dressing in the spare room. Looking to upgrade soon…..

Favourite car; To drive – Ferrari 488 GT3, to watch – Aston Martin Vantage GTE

My preferred car class; GTE

Favourite track; Watkins Glen

My RM driver stats below; found out why we do them and have a go at scoring yourself
